How to set the time on a watch
Short answer: Pull the crown fully out, turn it until the hands match your clock, then push it back in. On watches with a date, turn the hands past 12 and watch the date: if it changes, that 12 was midnight.
How real watches do it

| Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional (pre-2021, Hesalite) | No stop-seconds: light backward pressure on the crown. |
| Seiko Presage with calibre 6R24 (day, date, power reserve) | Second click at 0 seconds. Go slightly past, back, then forward. |
| Citizen Eco-Drive Calendrier Moonphase | Go 4–5 minutes past, then turn back. |

Set the time on most watches: 3 steps
Crown positions are numbered 1 / 2 / 3, from pushed in to fully out.
- 1
Pull fully out
Last crown position. On three-hand watches, wait for the seconds hand to reach 12.
- 2
Set the time
Turn forwards past the time, then back slightly. That takes up the play in the gears.
- 3
Push in on the beat
Done.
